January 1 has come, and with it the Christmasy theme and falling snow have left. The standard Andreas09 theme, complete with its widescreen, cleaner layout and two-column sidebar, makes it's triumphant return.

AdventureQuest: Analysis of 9/24/09 Release

Posted by alabamapitty on October 13, 2009

Hello from the lost realms! It’s been a while since everyone last heard from me, but I am indeed alive and well. Sorry I’ve been gone from the circuit lately, I’ve been busy. However, with a slew of great releases lately, I’ve been prompted back into action, and I won’t fail you guys anymore! So let’s take a look at some tasty Gunblades, shall we? 😉

I Shot Him, Now I’m Gonna Cut Him! (Gunblades)

This week’s release brought a slew of new weapons to the game. Very interesting and unique weapons, with powerful specials and abilities.

The weapons have the ability to boost damage and BtH through the use of a relatively minor SP cost. They also have the ability to switch between melee and ranged damage, so rangers and warriors alike were shown some love this week. That’s always a positive thing.

The Melee Version in its various forms

The Ranged version it is various forms

The weapons are very unique, using an ability very rarely seen in the game, or at all. There are versions across the entire level range, as well as existing for Adventurers, Guardians, and Z-Token users. All of the weapons fill much needed niches in the AQ world, giving everyone a very nice, very unique weapon.

This is really all we got this week. Still, it is WF week, so it is understandable, and the team will go on to more than make up for the lack of content this week.

In addition to the rather small amount of content, there are a few problems with the pricing of the level 105 Boomstick in Valencia’s shop. It costs 12,885 Z-Tokens, which works out to be… More than $34.95! These weapons are strong, but certainly not worth that. We can only hope that some change in Z-Token prices come around, otherwise weapons outside the Terror Set won’t be bought too terribly often.

Final Grade of Release

Well while this was a relatively small release, this is WF week, and the new weapons are very nice, so I can’t give it too bad of a score. I give this release 7.5 Awesome Drakel Weapons, out of 10.

  1. Seriyu said

I think Aelthai was working on repricing token items to be more reasonable, with a reduction in house interest rates to actually, you know, make it possible financially.

This is actually why the shield sweep was taking so long, she was repricing token items and got sidetracked with it. From what I hear both projects are close to completion, so these should change prices soon enough. :p

  2. Once again, you clarify where there are problems. I wasn’t fully aware of either of those facts, but it’s very good to know. Take heed of Seriyu everyone! He’s one smart cookie. 😉
