AdventureQuest: Analysis of 4/9/09 Release

Posted by alabamapitty on April 19, 2009

Well, here we are at Easter again. And that means it’s time to see our favorite homicidal creature– The Grenwog and its festival.

The Egg Food Chain! (Grenwog Festival ’09)

About

Here we are again, fighting against beasts and gaining eggs. This year, the mysterious Egg Gobblers are at it again, attacking young Grenwogs and eating your eggs as well. A huge amount of items have come back with this, from armors, to weapons, to shields. There was also a new quest involving the EggSlayer, a man who sits at the top of the Egg Food Chain, since he can hunt both Grenwogs and Egg Gobblers with deadly efficency.

Pros

This year’s Grenwog had a lot of content, and it showed some interesting things about the Grenwog and Egg Gobblers. That, and the new Z-Token EggSlayer armor looks awesome. The new summon spells and pets from the quest were great as well, and it was cool to see last year’s egg items return.

Cons

That said, this year’s Grenwog festival was almost a carbon copy of last year’s. From the egg hunt items, to most of the encounters while fighting, very little was added, with the new stuff just being the EggSlayer quest. AE needs to see just what they can do to spice up these holidays.

Final Grade of Release

Well, this wasn’t a terribly exciting release, and it didn’t add much to the game. It just rehashed what we have seen before. Oh well, it’s ok. I give this week’s release 6 EggSlaying Fiends, out of 10.

My main problem with it was that the only new item was Z-token, so if you weren’t up for that, there were no new items. :p

The Grenwog festival has never been an impressive event, and I certainly hope they think of a way to spice it up eventually, because I really like the eggobbler designs.
